A Week in the Life of a BBA International Business Student (Asian Market Focus).
INTRODUCTION
📅 Monday: Kicking Off the Week with Global Trade Insights 🌏
My week kicks off with an in-depth exploration of international trade theories and policies. Today’s lecture highlighted the trade relationships among major Asian players like India, China, Japan, and South Korea, all of which are incredibly pertinent to my future career.
Later in the evening, I participated in an online webinar discussing South Korea’s export strategies. These sessions truly assist in bridging the gap between theory and the practical business profession.
➡️ Tip: Read global business news 15 minutes a day!
🎯Tuesday: Marketing Across Cultures - Understanding Consumer Behavior🎯
Tuesday focuses on international marketing. Today, we explored how businesses tailor their advertisements for various countries. For instance, a mobile company may have a unique slogan in Korea compared to India.
In the evening, I collaborated on a group project centered around introducing an Indian snack brand in Japan. It was a blast!
Wednesday: Language & Culture Bridging Business Gaps🗣️
Grasping the nuances of culture is essential for success in international business.
I dedicated time to learn fundamental greetings in both Korean and Japanese. In the business world, greeting someone properly is very important! I also connected with Indian students who are studying in Seoul through a virtual meet-up.
Additionally, I viewed a brief video showcasing how companies in Singapore approach teamwork. Every culture is unique.
Thursday: Practical Application- Case Studies and Internships 💼
Thursday’s class focused on examining actual business scenarios from Asian markets.
I explored how Samsung tackles global challenges and keeps its competitive advantage.
After class, I looked for internships in international firms. Gaining practical experience is my aim this summer!
📌Real business cases from Asian markets
Friday: Exploring Asian Economies Guest Lecture & Networking 🤝
We had a guest speaker who discussed conducting business in Asia. He shared fascinating stories about Indian companies venturing into new markets such as Vietnam and South Korea.
After class, I participated in a networking event aimed at students interested in pursuing international business careers in Asia. Building connections early on feels incredibly empowering.
Saturday: Cultural Immersion- Food, Film, and Festivals 🎉
The weekend is all about relaxation!
I enjoyed an Asian drama, tasted sushi for the first time, and read a travel blog about Bali.
Additionally, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Korean Cultural Festival in my city to enhance my cultural knowledge. Discovering culture can be fun and exciting! 🌸
Sunday: Reflection and Planning for the Week Ahead 📝
I dedicate Sundays to reflecting on the past week. I revise my notes, set goals for the upcoming week, and occasionally blog about my insights.
I go over articles related to Asian markets, refresh my study planner, and get ready for presentations. This is also the time I write in my blog — sharing my experiences, challenges, and successes.
Conclusion
Pursuing International Business with an emphasis on Asia is both thrilling and demanding. Each day brings fresh insights—both in lectures and outside of them. To my fellow students who are keen on Asia, my suggestion is: maintain your curiosity, dive into the culture, and pursue practical experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my week!
